Applying the Instructional Development Process

What's Involved...

To give you a concrete sense of how the process is done, explore how some experts have designed a few exemplary lessons. These lessons have all been developed using this process:

  1. Locate the content standards you need to address.
  2. Explore some ideas, activities, and promising practices that address your standards. Then design or find a lesson that addresses the types of learning that you envision for your students.
  3. Locate some online resources that can support your lesson.
  4. Did the lesson work? Did it teach?

After you've explored some of these lessons, you can click on "Design Your Own Lesson" to create a lesson for your own grade level and subject area.
